Colorado is the one state where the physics genuinely change. A balloon that lifts fine in Kansas lifts noticeably less in Denver, and it is worth understanding why.
Lift comes from the air, not the helium
A balloon rises because the air it displaces weighs more than the helium inside it. The lift you get is the difference between the two.
At altitude the air is thinner, so it weighs less, so the difference shrinks. The helium has not changed at all. The air around it has.
Denver sits at about 5,280 feet, where air density is roughly 85 percent of sea level. Mountain towns are higher still. Net lift on a 13-foot blimp is about three pounds at sea level, and meaningfully less than that in Denver.
What that means in practice
It still flies. Colorado customers fly these perfectly well. What changes is margin.
Use a lighter tether arrangement and keep the line clean of anything that adds weight. Be a little more diligent about topping off, because a balloon that is slightly soft has less to spare here than it would in Florida.

Cold mornings look worse than they are
Gas contracts when it is cold. On a January morning your balloon will look softer than it did at 4pm the day before, and it will firm up again as the day warms.
That is normal and it is not a leak. Judge fullness on a mild afternoon, not at dawn in winter, or you will waste helium chasing a problem that is not there.
Wind through the passes
The rule is the same everywhere: winds over 25 miles per hour in the forecast means bring it in.
Colorado front range and pass winds arrive fast and hard. If you are somewhere with a reliable afternoon blow, plan on this being a morning product, or accept that you will eventually lose one. Weather loss is not covered by any manufacturer’s warranty, including ours.
